NAS100 can be traded almost around the clock, but it does not move the same way all day. Knowing the best time to trade NAS100 is one of the simplest edges available.
NAS100 trading hours
The underlying Nasdaq stock market is open from 9:30 to 16:00 New York time (ET), Monday to Friday. Most brokers offer NAS100 CFDs nearly 24 hours a day on weekdays, usually with a short daily break around 17:00 ET; exact hours vary by broker, so check your platform's contract specifications.
The three sessions
- Asian session: usually quieter, often forming a range that later sessions react to.
- London session: volume picks up, and London frequently sets the day's first high or low.
- New York session: the most active period for NAS100, especially around the 9:30 ET cash open.
Why the New York open matters
When the cash market opens, institutional orders flood in and NAS100 often makes its largest move of the day in the first 60–90 minutes. A common NAS100 New York open strategy is to mark the Asia and London ranges beforehand, wait for the open to sweep one side, and trade the confirmed move in the other direction.
Times to be careful
- Scheduled US news at 8:30 ET (CPI, jobs data) can cause sharp spikes; see trading NAS100 around news.
- Midday New York is often slower and choppier.
- Spreads can widen around the daily break and at the open.
Building your day around one session
Most consistent traders pick one session and prepare for it properly instead of watching all day. RisePips live sessions run at the New York open on weekdays; see how it works.
